If you are considering booking a hospital session, you probably have a few questions! Here are the answers to our most common FAQs:
When should you book your Fresh 48 Session?
It’s best to secure your due date on our calendar about 3 months in advance. To ensure we provide each of our clients with the absolute best, highly personalized experience, we only take on 5 newborns per month. Spots fill up quickly!
What if I deliver early and need extra time in the NICU?
Not a problem at all! We know birth is unpredictable, so we are incredibly flexible. We can wait until your baby is transferred back to the pediatric unit, or we can even come right to the NICU. This depends entirely on your specific hospital’s policies, but we will adapt to whatever keeps your baby safe and comfortable.

Absolutely! Before your session, we will send over a quick questionnaire where you can share your ideas, let us know your expectations, and drop links to your favorite Pinterest boards for us to view. We love seeing your vision!
Is Fresh 48 photography safe?
Of course it is! But it has to be done right. At Stinsman Photography, your baby’s safety is our number one priority. With over a decade of experience in the business, we have been trained by industry leaders and have attended multiple newborn safety seminars. We are CPR certified and expertly trained to recognize the cues if a baby is in distress or uncomfortable.
What is the difference between a Fresh 48 and a Newborn Session?
Great question!
- Fresh 48 Sessions: These take place directly in your hospital room or birthing center within the first 48 hours of birth, capturing the raw, emotional, and authentic first moments of your baby’s life.
- Newborn Sessions: These are done a little later in our South Jersey studio and can feature beautifully posed setups or relaxed lifestyle portraits.
How long after birth do we do the Fresh 48 session?
Communication is key! We ask that you add us to your contact list and text us when you are heading to the hospital, or schedule with us ahead of time if you are having a planned induction or C-section. This gives us a heads-up so we can adjust our schedule, see if we need to move other sessions around, and arrive at the perfect time within those first two days.
