In early May 2025, we had the distinct pleasure of welcoming Kalie and her radiant family into our studio for a maternity session designed to capture the serene anticipation of their growing family. As you can see, Kalie and her husband are joyously awaiting the arrival of their second child, a momentous occasion that we felt deeply honored to document. There’s an unparalleled sweetness to a second pregnancy, knowing that their little girl will soon have a built-in, lifelong best friend, sharing secrets and adventures as they navigate life together.

For her maternity session, Kalie envisioned a timeless aesthetic, choosing a sophisticated palette of black and white to accentuate the purity and grace of her maternal form. She arrived with a chic black top that tastefully highlighted her baby bump, its simplicity adding a modern touch to the classic maternity portrait. Complementing this was an exquisitely elegant, off-the-shoulder white maternity gown that cascaded around her, lending an air of glamorous sophistication to her photographs.

We always relish having toddlers in the studio; their uncontainable energy and infectious joy infuse the environment with a vibrant, playful spirit. Typically, we begin these family sessions in our bright, white set, allowing the little ones to gently acclimate to the new surroundings, especially if it’s their first visit. As you’ll notice, we incorporated our cozy bed set into Kalie’s session, setting the stage for intimate, lifestyle portraits of the entire family.

Toddlers, with their natural curiosity, are invariably drawn to the inviting softness of a bed, eager to explore its bouncy surface. This provides us with the perfect opportunity to capture genuine, unscripted moments of joy and laughter on their adorable faces. We are particularly fond of lifestyle photography for its ability to authentically capture the love and connection that binds families together. Playful interactions and spontaneous smiles are what we cherish most, and the bed set simply serves as a delightful backdrop for these precious family moments.

Of course, we dedicated time to classic, solo portraits of Kalie and her husband, but their daughter remained close by, her eyes sparkling as she watched her parents lovingly interact.

We concluded Kalie’s maternity session in our bright and airy set, which is wonderfully versatile and beautifully accentuates the stunning curves of pregnancy.
