Watermelon First Birthday Session

Kerrie and her family came to our studio in the summer of 2022 for their daughter’s first birthday session. It was such a beautiful day out, so we took some outdoor photos of her in our Zinnia flower garden. Of course, we took some lifestyle family portraits in addition to the classic in-studio photos. Watermelon was the theme because that is her favorite food at the moment, and we decided on tropical-theme props for her birthday photos!

First, we captured the outdoor images in her various outfits, which were so cute! Certainly, Kerrie did a great job color-coordinating with blue and cream-colored outfits. We love capturing families having a good time and being in the moment, which makes for joyful images.

Then, we continued the rest of the session in our studio and captured her birthday photos. Their baby girl has a few food allergies, so a traditional cake smash was not ideal. Instead, we opted for an actual watermelon! Actually, this happens to be her favorite fruit, so we gave her a few slices of watermelon to enjoy and used some as props! What a great way to document her favorite fruit in this baby milestone session.

Finally, we ended her session with our tubby time set. In fact, we filled the tub with oat milk for her because they were suspecting a dairy allergy. All in all, this session was so much fun, she had such a good time and had a ton of fun splashing around in the bath.
