Black-and-White Maternity and Newborn Session

Leah and her beautiful family are one of our Baby Plan clients. They will be back in our studio in Southampton, New Jersey for baby Ryder’s first birthday session. Last winter, we did Leah’s in-studio maternity session that incorporated her two older children and her lifelong boyfriend. Naturally, we are very excited to come full circle and re-create some of these images for his first birthday. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite images from Leah’s sessions.

Actually, Leah requested a more moody set in her maternity session that included some lingerie. Needless to say, those images are for their private and personal collection.

Certainly, we had to do the very popular backlight shot and re-create it during her newborn session.

Next, the whole family put on their plain white t-shirts for this black-and-white maternity and newborn session. These images are so timeless and classic. Perfect for placing on any wall, in any room in their home!

Then, we moved on to the newborn session a few months later. Ryder’s big sister, Izzy, was such a sweet help. She loved holding her little brother and was super excited to give him kisses!

Ryder and his siblings were a dream to photograph! We were was very pleased that we were able to get some happy awake images. The family portraits of Leah and her children are so precious, look at all those beautiful smiles!

Naturally, we had to capture Ryder in the classic sleepy poses. This is our egg pose; he is wrapped in a way where we are still able to see his perfect hands and toes whilst being perfectly swaddled. He looks so cozy nestled in Leah’s arms.

Lastly, we redid the backlit image so that we could convert it to black-and-white. Of course, we incorporated our traditional on-cream sets in both sessions. Leah and her beautiful family were such a treat to photograph, and we cannot wait to get them in the studio for Ryder’s first birthday session!
