Lena was a last-minute, add-on newborn session. Her baby boy was a dream to photograph! Lena and her beautiful family traveled an hour and a 1/2 to do their little man’s first in-studio photography session here in Southampton, New Jersey.
Baby boy wanted to be awake for a little bit at the beginning which was totally fine! We definitely got some great smirks and great looks from him throughout the session. We love awake shots because we know a baby’s eyes can change so much during the first year.
Mom wore our scalloped white dress that we have available for all our moms. This dress is very popular for our backlit images. Also, we love this dress for the front-facing photos because you can see the scalloping on the sides of the arms as well. For example, this detailing really adds an eye-catching component to this family portrait.
We made sure to get lots of family portraits. Of course, we took tons of photos of each of the parents by themselves as well. But, this was baby boy’s show, he looks so sweet on this heart-shaped prop. Perfect for this light and simple newborn session.
Finally, we ended this session while baby was sleeping. Lena wanted a theme that was simple with pops of greenery. Turns out, all of our sets were absolutely perfect for her. We added these blankets for texture and a little bit of contrast. All of his outfits worked so well for this light and simple newborn session.
